Day of Peace in Philadelphia, September 21, 2011

“Stop Straw Purchasing, Stand Against Illegal Guns” - our effort to pray, remember and witness on the International Day of Prayer for Peace.  We gathered at the site of a fatal shooting this year and prayed for the young man killed on the spot and the 185 others who have died by guns in Philadelphia so far this year.  We then marched up the main street of Philadelphia carrying T-shirts above our heads symbolizing the lives lost.  We rallied at City Hal to call out the names of the 186 lives lost this year and call for an end to the illegal trafficking and straw purchasing of guns.  Rainy, grey, powerful day together.
