Vigil against gun trafficking

PHILADELPHIA — Mennonites and other peace church members were among 300 participants at a Good Friday vigil against gun violence.

Among churches and other faith groups in the Philadelphia area, a January peace gathering sponsored by Mennonites, Quakers and Brethren has sparked renewed energy to deal with gun trafficking.

Religious groups are challenging gun shops to sign a code of conduct, developed by Mayors Against Illegal Guns, meant to reduce the flow of handguns from legal shops to gun traffickers. Wal-Mart, the largest U.S. retailer of firearms, has signed the code.
